Cognos Connection Error 1

Trying to install Cognos. Everything seemed to go well. Now trying to establish a link with Openlink DB. Getting

"Connection Error:[OpenLink][ODBC] Unable to allocate server handle, SQL=S1000"

Anyone know how to fix this problem???

Has that ODBC connection been made on the ReportNet server? Does it work?

Thanks for your response by the way.

We setup the ODBC connection to the same settings that we have on another pc that has Cognos running properly. Still not connecting when we run a connection test. We get the above error. Any ideas?

Can you connect via some other metod? SQLPlus with Oracle for example? At this point it's important to know whether the connection itself works, or if it's the application failing.

Thanks for the help. I recieved some help with the problem and the connection now works. "Environment Variables" had to be set to point to the database.
I appreciate your input.
