I'm the SA of a test lab consisting of a Windows 2003 AD Forest and numerous application servers including some Cognos. One of the engineers here needs to know what changes/extensions, if any are made to the AD Schema by installing Cognos. Also, is there any way to track these changes either in Cognos itself, or in AD?

It depends what Cognos product you're talking about. For ReportNet, you can use your existing AD...just build based on your own rules. For series 7 though, it will need to extend the schema. There's documentation on the Cognos KB on what exactly it does.

If you want to know exactly which objects and attributes are added when you extend the schema, all of the ldif scripts can be found in the cerx/accman directory. When consulting the documentation, make sure that you are looking at the doc for Windows 2003. It's the same as 2000 except you will need to set the dsHeuristics value to 0000002.

Thanks flex, where is the cerx/accman directory? On the DC or the Cognos app server? I've been doing storage for the last year so my client/server lingo is a bit rusty.
