Cognos 8 - Powerplay cube as Data Source

Can someone help me on how to give a powerplay cube cube as a data source in Cognos 8

I have a powerplay cube test.mdc under C:\Temp

In Cognos Connection, I have set up a new data source and chosen the option "Cognos Power Cube"

In the further settings asked, I have given the windows path for the cube as C:\Temp

It gives me an error when I test the connection. Have I missed something basic.
