Cognos 8 - DB2 cannot group or sort

With Cognos8 / DB2 when trying to group or sort any column on a large table i am blowing up on memory or temp space /
using version mr2 has anyone else experienced this problem?

what is your sort memory buffer size set to in cognos config? how much data are you bringing back? You might try to bump up the sort buffer a little bit depending on how much memory you have, how heavily the box is used, but be careful with this.

also, there are many things there could be going on. its not easy to say what is wrong with just what you described.

Thanks for the response. The same report and data in version 7 worked fairly quickly. In version 8 the response is terrible. Sort buffer makes no difference I have used 16mb and 32mb no diff. If i take off group columns yet keep aggregate data I still see the db2 group sql and performance is good. As soon as I group a column performance is terrible. i wunder if cognos 8 handles memory differently. Thanks for any thoughts on this.

how about if you set the processing for the data source to "database only" instead of "limited local" in framework manager?
