Anyone had locking of SQL Server 2000 tables using Cognos 8.1 MR2? If so, what were your solutions?

The locking that we encounter is for an application that enters data into a database on SQL server that we also use for reporting.

In Impromptu, you were given the option to set up the catalog in user profiles, the tab database, then on the database transaction, clicked on the start transaction with isolation level and set this to read uncommitted. This could stop it locking the table when a report is running.

HOWEVER, what is the equivalent in Cognos 8.1 MR2 that does the same thing that we used to do in Impromptu?

Ok, found connection tab of data source properties in Cognos connection DEFAULTs to "CURSOR STABILITY", I can change this to "Specify a value", and choose the drop down list option of 'Read Uncommitted'.

My question is now WHY does Cognos 8 come defaulting to lock up databases? duh. This gets my goat. Wonder how many other people have this issue.

Read uncommitted" Doesn't do what it says. Still show locking/blocking on the SQL Server while running report. And I am the only one on this system.
