We are converting from Impromptu 7.1 to Cognos 8.
We will be scheduling daily reports that recap the previous day's transactions. In the event that the reports do not run for several days, does the scheduler have the capability to generate the missing daily reports?
In other words, can the scheduler pass a date (last report date + 1 day) to the report based on the last successful execution of the report?
We currently have this ability with Impromptu through the use of .bat and .mac files which update a table with the last successful report generation date. If the daily process does not run for several days, the process will increment the date by 1 day, update the prompt and regenerate the report for the next day until the most recent report has been generated.
We are hoping that we can replace the entire batch process we created for Impromptu with the Cognos 8 scheduler.
Alternate solutions to the problem are welcome.
Thanks.
