cognos 8 and MOLAP ? 1

Hello,

Am I wrong thinking and saying that actual COGNOS 8 solution is only ROLAP and provides no MOLAP feature ?!? How can I use a cube as source in Framework Manager ? It seems that FM is not able to generate IQD ... So how do we deal performance problems ?

Yes, you are wrong!

You can use Cognos Powercubes as data sources in Cognos 8. There is no modelling to do in Framework Manager, as the cube modelling is still done in Transformer - you just add the Powercube data source and it gets published as a package.

Framework Manager has always been able to generate IQDs - even from the first release of ReportNet 1.0 - what makes you think it cannot? Just define a query subject containing the data you need, in properties set the 'Externalize Method' to 'IQD', then create a package using this query subject. Publish the query subject and in the publish wizard, check the box to generate the files for externalized query subjects. The IQD is then available for you to use in Transformer.
