Hello,
Recently, I have been running into more and more problems --with pages in website applications that are not loading, or are crashing/hanging up --- that are due to security settings on client browser machines.
I have done a little experimenting. For example, I have loaded a souped up Internet Security suite on one of my development machines, and not on another. I have a CFM template in one of my applications that has on it, a <FORM> tag. There are no cookies in the code. When certain security settings/levels are implemented, this page will not load at all. But it loads fine when the settings are changed, or if browsed on another machine.
I have had similar problems with HTML and ASP files.
Does anyone have any strategies/input as the best way to address this phenomenon when developing? I am familar with cross-browser, and cross-platform development considerations. But it seems like more and more users are installing high-powered security software, but not taking the time to configure them, and then are complaining when they cant see this page, or that page won't load.
Any suggestions? Any ideas for code that can detect security settings and then alert the user? Or is simply a matter of alerting or otherwise stating on the home page, (or other pages / every page for that matter) that certain browser settings must be set for browsing a particluar site?
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
