I am just considering migrating to PHP/MySQL as opposed to ASP/MDB. It has some advantages it seems, as well as more commonality which may be emerging:

What I would like to know: do you know how, with PHP/MySQL to refer to relationships so I can go through the fields and figure out which target field the field in a table refers to?

Would you mind rephrasing your question? It is not entirely clear.
Go through which fields? POST? Form fields?

Usually you establish the relationship yourself by vertain naming conventions. A form filed represented by an input tag named 'message' should probably be also in the table be represented by a column named message.
