I've just finished a long-overdue page for some of my code snippets, and not being a graphic designer, haven't done anything too arty.

I'd really appreciate feedback on the layout and design, as well as any suggestions for improvements, etc.

The page is here:
It looks pretty good for me in IE 6 (Win), FF (Win & Mac), Opera 7/8 (Win), NN 7 (Win), and Safari (Mac). It also holds together pretty well when styles are turned off.

Thanks!

Dan

It works well on FF and Safari/Mac. And it looks good too. I liked it. One suggestion I have is: why would you write "Introduction" it sounds like some school project. I don't think it's necessary. Instead I'd make the paragraph where you describe the purpose of this page "This is a portfolio of some of my code snippets etc" different from the main body of the text. You could use a bigger font, semi-bold of even a different color (perhaps, the
same blue as @) whatever you think looks good and then use a bit more space between this paragraph and the text "Twenty line...etc" text. This would help the user to determine more quickly what this site is about. Also, you could play a bit with your logo. Even a simple thing like making "Dan's page" much bigger while leaving text "code couch" as you have it might look pretty good. The key is that there should be a significani difference in size. For example, Dan's page would be 72 or 60 pt and code couch 24 pt. You could try also to drop the opacity of the bigger text. Oh, well I got carried away :) Anyway, good job.

Thanks for that. I agree about the "Introduction" heading, so have removed it.

I tried not to get too carried away with font sizes / general aesthetics, as I'm not very creative in that department, and didn't want to clutter the design unnecessarily.

Thanks again,
Dan

Some minor points:

1. Use small icons for the validation links.

2. Make roman clock 2 be viewable without both horizontal and vertical scroll bars.

3. Ditto for "Body sliding on a surface." Although unlike 2. I think this may only be a problem in 800*600.

4. Make roman clock one respond better to a change of font-size. Currently the second line gets lost in the picture.

5. Maybe the game needs some explanation.

Great Stuff!
