Hello,

how can I program with COBOL in the MS .NET and IBM WSED 5.0 environments?

Besides, these development environments are new to me and first I want to get a general knowledge about the usage of them. Is there an integrated program in these environments introducing the newcomers to the development environment?

For the .NET environment, I'd start with acquiring MS Visual Studio .NET. You can gain some experience with the .NET environment developing Visual Basic or C# programs (assuming you are reasonably fluent in one of those languages).

If I understand correctly, you then need to acquire a COBOL tool that works directly with .NET. Fujitsu was the first to announce COBOL for .NET. I don't know about MicroFocus. AcuCORP is not going to play directly in .NET for now but with "integrate" with that environment through vendor-provided interface routines.
