Cobol II file status error 2

Cobol II is returning a file status code of '48' stating that a write statement was attemptedm but the file wasn't open in I-O, Output or Extend mode. The program contains an open Extend statement. Any ideas on what is causing the error.

did you get file status 0 on the open statement?

This status definitely means your OPEN didn't work. Check the status after the OPEN and if you can't figure it out from there, post the status here. Betty Scherber
