Is it possible to have a CO Voicemail message light the message waiting lamp on an MLX-16, running on a Merlin Magix, latest Software release, and POTS lines. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The lights are lit by teh voice mail system for system extensions 1) In teh voice mail coverage group with 2) A mailbox built in the Mail system. To get the CO trunk to light up a particular phone that particular line 801, 80or whatever must be set so that the principal user is the extension whose voice mail light you want lit up. Lines/Trunks> Principal user > line then enter the extension.

Peperz, I'm a little lost, sorry. Norstar guy here. Are you saying there are programming changes necesary to allow for CO Vmail on say Line 801? I know the CO needs to allow for it, but I am confused on what I need to do on my end..No system Vmail on site..

Actually, there is NO way to light a message waiting light on a MLX phone for CO voice mail.

There are some CO voice mail message waiting boxes available that can be wired to the CO line ahead of the control unit, and wired to a jack nearby the phone that you want to know when a message is waiting. These devices periodically monitor the dialtone, listening for the stutter to indicate a message. Check with Radio Shack or Sandman

Tommy, that makes sense what you are saying with teh line wired externally to a Caller I device. So regardless of config in the CO, there is NO possibility of making this happen??

Sorry, I missed what you were adking. I thought you wanted a CO trunk to get voice mail specific to that trunk via your system. T^3 is right.
