I'm trying to find a patch cable, which I have seen used primarily on AT&T/Lucent/Avaya system installs to connect CO-lines from a 66-block to the line ports.

It is a bare-end 4-pr. cable split into (4) RJ11 (1-pr.) modular plugs. There is a label with the name "Berk Tek", but no part number on it.

I tried to check Berk Tek's website, searched the web for octopus, splitter & "Y" cables, and checked with my local Graybar, but cannot find this cable. Graybar & others said they could custom make these cables for me, but it must be cheaper to buy them off the shelf. (I would prefer to buy factory made cables rather than make them myself.)

Can any techs out there tell me the part #, or where to buy these? Thanks!

try Anixter, if they don't have it ready made, they can custom make those for you. I had some 25pr cables made into RJ11 ended octopus cables for an Avaya install I did a few weeks ago. I also get "cut cords" from then, 25ft 2pr solid wire RJ11 to RJ11 that I cut, their catalog number for those is 889232 at about $4.00 per

Those custom cables were made by Hubbell. Hubbell made serveral preconnectorized modular configurations, 2,3 or 4 pair constructions terminated either single end or double end and standard lengths. They are not listed in their current catalog, but may still be available on special order or from Avaya. You can also have some made up as stated in the above post.

I do this all the time when doing installs and remodels. I have designs for the Legend and a couple of the Panasonics. When Vari-Tronics was in business, they would make up any custom cable to your specs and high quality. But they are gone now, so I had to find another company that does good custom work. So far Cable Exchange in Santa Ana, CA is my choice.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Syquest, you may have just saved me some time and money, I did not know about Cable Exchange and they are in my backyard, I thought I was doing good with Anixter but I will chaeck out C.E.

Are you looking for a splitter that plugs into an RJ-11 jack (4-pair) & will give you access to each individual wire pair?

We have a couple of the Siemon YA4-4U1 modules... they are expensive, but they come in handy in a pinch

Thank you all for the replies. Syquest, I tried the Hubbell & Leviton catalogs, and couldn't find anything in either. I guess I will have to have them special made. I will try Cable Exchange - thanks for the tip!

You can very easily make them yourself with some cat3 4 pair cable and RJ11 plugs that you crimp yourself.

OTBOB - I have made them in the past, (I've been doing this for 20-years), but have always found that factory made cables always work better & last longer.

Upstate Paul, thanks I'll try Sandman. He always has some interesting stuff.
