So I happened to come across a live newsroom footage of CNN during the space shuttle Challenger Incident 1986. All of the other network news networks had analog bell ringing 1A2 phones in the background, while CNN had digital ringing similar to that of a Merlin telephone, but a quick double ring similar to today's Cisco default ringtone. I am wondering if these were ATT Domension sets? During the coverage, I couldn't get a good look of the actual phones other than the fact that the handsets were beige and the newer style square handsets. Anyone have any knowledge of what CNN had in 1986? It definitely wasn't ROLM, although ROLM was considered super futuristic at the time.
