Does it important what mode originally was image saved to .PSD image - CMYK color or RGB color? What mode is better to save PSD source: CMYK mode or RGB mode?

If the pic is for professional printing or inclusion in a doc that will be printed professionally - cmyk

For screen display, video, printing on a desktop printer - rgb

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

CMYK uses a lesser gamut of color than RGB. There are also less Photoshop features available to you if you work in CMYK mode. Working in RGB or Lab is much better.

If you are working in a color managed workflow such as that used by the Adobe Creative Suites 2 and 3, Adobe recommends that you use RGB as your Photoshop working mode, even if you are going to print. A color profile and preview should be employed to preview what the image will look like when printed to a CMYK device.

If you are not working in a color managed print workflow, it is common to dumb your images down to CMYK.
