CMTS assistance needed if possible

I'm operating a very small cable company, and need to add internet service.

I purchased an ADC Cuda 1000 CMTS. I can't get a modem to find the downstream channel. It passes over the frequency and doesn't even slow down...

Here's what the log is full of from the modem:

8-Debug T509.0 Acquired DS with status NO FEC lock, DS Freq xxxxxxxxxxxx, UD Id 0

It does this for a bunch of frequencies until the log is full.

Anyways, one thing I did was delete the configuration files for this CMTS right away so I could start from scratch. Maybe that was the bad move?

Any suggestions are appreciated. If you have one of these units running, I'd be interested to see some of your config.
