I'm developing a website that I believe may need a CMS for certain areas. Here is what I'm looking for.

Most of the site will be static. There will be some content in which the user will have to be a paying member in order to access with a username/password. Once authenticated, the user will have access to a 'common area' that will include exclusive articles, newsletters, etc. I figure a CMS will be the tool for this part. The other part, however, is what has me stumped. I also need the user to be able to create and maintain a contact list (up to twelve, maybe more) consisting of names, email addresses, fax numbers, a space for messages, maybe even an option for them to upload attached documents. I'd like this information to be stored in their separate user accounts, that only they have access to. I want the user to be able to update this list like add to or delete, at their whim. I do not need them to have the capability to actually send these messages or attachments. This will be handled by a separate process.

I had investigated Joomla for the CMS portion, as well as the various modules for paid access (JoomSuite being one). What can I use for the purpose of maintaining the separate list? This is what has me stumped.

I'm simply looking for guidance that will help point me in the direction of the right tool. Thanks,

JFG

Nearly any CMS should be able to handle this if the 'contact list' is a web page. You will need to give the user admin/manager access to edit their own 'contact list' page and nothing else. Almost all CMS systems should handle the task, the thing to be careful about is creating and maintaing the backend security settings.

Thanks for pointing that out. I have experimented with Joomla a bit and saw it has a Contact List feature in its Menu option. I'm wondering if this can be used for my purposes? Ultimately, each user would be able to add their own contacts but would not have access to other users' contacts. They'd only be able to view, edit their own.

Anyway, thanks again for pointing this out. I will experiment some more with Joomla to see if this feature will suit me. I would appreciate any other words of wisdom from anybody else out there.
