Hi,

Does anyone know the solution for this problem?

Creating session manager...
Logging onto CMS...
err: Error: Couldn't logon to CMS
err: Error description: The system server01 can be contacted, but there is no Central Management Server running at port 6400.

After a lot of searching at many foruns, I believe that the problem is that the BO tables werent created, but after running the cmsdbsetup.sh I got this:

Business Objects

Current CMS Data Source: DP7A

Current cluster name: DBA

err: Error: Failed to get auditing data source name.
err: Error description: Unable to read the database connection string from the registry.

select (Select a Data Source)
reinitialize (Recreate the current Data Source)
copy (Copy data from another Data Source)
changecluster (Change current cluster name)
selectaudit (Select an Auditing Data Source)

[select(6)/reinitialize(5)/copy(4)/changecluster(3)/selectaudit(2)/back(1)/quit(0)]

Tks

Which version are you using? What platform?

From the error, it looks like a problem with your auditing database. So, we'll try taking auditing out of the mix to see what happens.

Assuming you're on Windows... For BO XI, if you're on any version up through r2, you'll work with the Central Management Server. If you're on version 3.0 or higher, you'll work with the Server Intelligence Agent.

1. In the Central Configuration Manager, stop the service listed above.
2. Go to the properties for the service (double-click on it or right-click and select Properties.)
3. Go to the Configuration tab.
4. Turn off auditing.
5. Click on the Specify button next to the CMS database name and select "Recreate the Current Data Source". Enter the appropriate information for your CMS database. NOTE: the database user ID MUST have access to create tables and indexes.
6. When that finishes, click on OK and restart the service.

Now try to log in. Do you get any errors?

A computer only does what you actually told it to do - not what you thought you told it to do.

Im on solaris... sorry by not mentioning before....so do you know how to solve it on solaris?

The version Im using is BO XI.

Tks

Sorry, I'm not familiar with how it's set up on Solaris. However, I still think you need to try to take the auditing database out of the mix and see what happens.

Also note that it is NOT recommended that the auditing database be in the same schema as the CMS database. If you're trying to configure both in the same schema, that could contribute to your problem.
