Does anyone have a CMS system with bonded NICs for user sign on access?

This would be on a V890 with 4 NICs. 1 for cross-connect to CLAN, 2 bonded for user access, 1 "extra".

Hi ,
Check the SUN Support website as you need to do this on System level or check the UNIX side of tek-tips
Why do you want to bond the NIC's how many users are connecting ?

D.

I know it can be done. Just knowing how Avaya software can sometimes negatively react to simple changes in configurations, I just wanted to know if anyone has done it and has it working.

We want to do it for redundancy. We'll be connected the bonded NICs to two different layer 3 switches. If we need to service one of the switches, or if one goes down, it won't keep users from accessing the system. It obviously will disconnect users that are connected to the one that is out of service, but they will be able to log back in through the other switch/NIC.

What you might wan't to do is multi-homing, I have done this as it moves the real ipaddress between two NICS and thus the user does not need to login again. OK for supervisors but possibly risky for the switch to CMS connection. Needless to say does not come with any support from Avaya....

Got my response from Avaya. Technically possible, not supported. [mad]
