I have a client who has asked me to set up a website for a dinner club but who wants to be able to add her own content and she is a complete novice. So I started looking at events calendars and CMS systems and there are just so many .... the the prices!!!! With a limited budget - I can't quite figure out where to start. Before I start to download trial versions, I thought I might throw the question at you folks with your vast experience and knowledge. :)

I'm considering Mambo or ezPublish. Not sure if either are suitable. Bearing in mind this has to be really easy for the client to update an events calendar and to upload photos as well as maintain FAQ pages etc. She needs to be able to collect subscription payments as well as booking fees - so possibly needs a members only area.

My other alternative is to set it up in Dreamweaver and have her use Contribute (only because I know more or less where I'm going with that solution).

Any advice or comments welcome.

Thanks Foamcow,

I did stumble across Joomla - it does seem to have everything I need. I also looked at Limbo which is another offshoot of Mambo, and WebGUI.

Your link for options appears to be off line for the moment so I'll leave it for a day or 2. It never occurred to me that there'd be several hundred commercial/free alternatives! And I thought finding a shopping cart or a form to email script was hard!!!

This site has given me a few clues.
