Understand that there are several threads for this subject. However, mine is a little different. Hope to get experts' advices.

I have a JetBook laptop (old one, bought in 1996). I recently replaced the cmos battery. But when the PC boots up, I got a cmos checksum error/configuration data error, press F1 to resume and F2 for Setup. The system boots to OS only after you go in and out BIOS with or without saving changes. This happens every time the PC boots or restarts. I ran disk scan and virus scan. But the problem remains. Retest battery with voltage tester, the battery is still full (3.6 V).

Does anyone know whatelse that I should do?

Will really appreciate any advices.

You might force the defaults and save, then get back in and set up what you need. It may help. Ed Fair

Thank you. Yes, I did take the default value and then changed only one thing which is PnP OS. But the problem remains the same...?

Sorry, I posted this thread under the wrong catergory. Now I moved to PC Hardware-General Discussion.

Next step is probably to pull the battery for a day and let it lose everything. Hopefully , when the battery is put back in and the settings changed whatever is corrupted will get straightened out. Ed Fair

As this happens every time when the PC boots or restarts, it means that the battery doesn't supply power to CMOS. You would better to use voltage tester to check the voltage (3.6V) on COMS chip (not on the battery) after you shut down your computer.
