hi i have here a customer's pc wich started to have problems with the bios, the fact is that it had the problem of not keeping the bios configuration so i changed the battery with a new one, but i still have the same problem, when i turn the pc on, while doing post it displays a message "CMOS battery low" F1 to enter set up or F2 to continue, what else could be the problem? could it be the PSU? or could it be the mother board? perhaps the cmos chip?.....

I'll appreciate any help..
Ivan

Can't say about the low battery message... but, once you get the computer CMOS set up, save those settings as the defaults so that if the computer loses settings due to a low battery condition, the defaults will load and the computer should function normally.

It is possible that the "new" battery is dead. Or the battery posts are corroded, or deformed.
Or the M/B has lost a component. If you have a voltmeter you can check the battery condition.

glister: i've done that and it keeps displaying the mesage.

edfair: i've checked the battery's voltage and it's ok i think "3.01 volts"

one thing i've notices is that if i set te bios config "time, date, etc..." and then boot, turn of the power "in the PSU" and then turnit on again it does not resets the bios and doesn't dysplay the message, but if i leave it turned off "turning off the PSU switch" for a while ej. 5 mins. and then turn it on, the message comes up again, but everything resets in the bios config, exept the hour and the day.

Disable Power Management in the bios. I had a similar problem and that fixed it. Let Windows manage your power.

anfps26: i've done that too......

i have removed every thing from the case and put it back in again, the problem is still there, changed cpu, changed PSU and nothing solves the problem... i think is a problem with the bios chip, or on the main board, i'll no bother with a bios update so i'll propose to my customer to buy a new mobo..
