I'm having an issue integrating a customer's overhead paging system with the CME router. The router has 4 FXO and 4 FXS ports. I know they could purchase an E&M interface or ATA, but they want it done with the existing hardware if possible. The paging system supplies a dial tone and then the user dials #7 to activate the paging so I'm assuming you would use an FXO port to connect. Has anyone successfully integrated a paging system with a FXO port? If you have could you please post a sample config that show's me how this is done.

Thanks,

Chad Hershberger

If the paging system provides dialtone then you are correct in assuming that it needs to be hooked up to an FXO port. Add the following lines of configuration to your router:

dial-peer voice 4000 pots
destination-pattern 4000
port 1/0/0

In this example the number that a user would dial to access the paging system is 4000. Just change that part to match whatever you need. If they dial that DN the call will be redirected to the FXO port and they will receive dial tone from the paging system. They can then dial #7 and make their announcement. I hope that helps!
