We have Cisco Call Manager Express system in one of my offices and have a block of 100 DID numbers that are currently provided by AT&T. The plan is to port them to a new provider. The Circuit has been provisioned and the provided us with 10 test numbers on that circuit. When we plug in their circuit and configure one of our Cisco IP phones to use one of the test numbers we are able to dial out but cannot dial into the test number, we get a busy. Also, our existing DID numbers are 973-526-3801 to 3900. All the test numbers have a 973-585-xxxx area code and prefix. When we configured one of the IP phones 6161 number gives us a busy signal. Is there someone who can assist us with resolving this? I am not sure if the new carrier is sending the correct number of digits or if this is a translations rule problem. See below for some of the configuration on the VGW.

Run a debug isdn q931. The error message should help.

What are your trunkgroup 1/2 pointed to? Is one of them the new PRI?

It has only one PRI circuit terminated on the VGW. They switch out the working one AT&T with the new one to test. I think someone was into the VGW trying to get it to work.

Ah ok. Yeah, run the debug. Probably sending a different amount of digits then what you have configured.

Is there any where in the running configuration where I can see what the current PRI inbound digits are set to accept? Also, would the translation rule have anything to do with it?

Doesn't look like your translation rules are touching anything inbound. So more than likely your current PRI is sending the length of your extensions, and the new one is not. Running the debug will show what they are sending. You can usually ask them to send a certain number as well if you want to try that route.

Is there a way to setup a debug to capture calls to a specific extension and store it to review later?

Also, how would I change the switch-type for the interface. the carrier is now saying that we should be 5ess for the interfaces
