CMD redirect to screen and file

Hi all.
Is it possible to redirect a command prompt to both thte screen and a file.
so dir c:\ > c:\dir.txt AND THE SCREEN

?

Repeat the command twice? eg...

dir c:\
dir c:\ > c:\dir.txt

--------------------------------------
"Insert funny comment in here!"
--------------------------------------

Sadly that would run a 3 hour process twice

I have been able to do this against subdirectories in the past. What I do is perform a dir /s | filedir.txt this will open notepad and pipe the output to a notepad file and you will be able to see it on screen. I am sure you can take this further to directly update to screen
