I can copy a file from the local drive to the network drive using explorer or my computer but I cannot go and run "copy file.txt m:\" without a "Access Denied" error.

Why would I be able to copy a file over by gui but not by cmd without a Access denied msg? I just don't understand what permissions I'm loosing some permission by going to cmd line.

Any ideas?

Some stupid questions, are you in the directory of the file when you typed out the command?
e.g. C:>copy file.txt m:\ and file.txt is in the c: drive
if not then you will need c:>copy d:\file.txt m:\ [source file] to [destination].

You may also get the error if file.txt is open for editing at the time the copy is actioned.
