Greeting all,
I have call manager 6.1. Currently trying to rely on a 3rd party paging platform, but its a crap shoot as to if it will work when you need it. exhausted all avenues of support and research.

My question to you - Has anyone utilized the auto answer feature with the headset connected to a paging amp for overhead speakers?

I had seen this done but cannot find any specifics.
Or does anyone have a hybrid setup they would care to share?

Thanks

you need overhead paging to speakers then? All you need is to connect an FXS or FXO port to your amplifier. Which one depends on the paging unit.

What about the programming? What would this feature be called or what terms can I search to be on the right path?
Thanks

There is no feature. You will need to add an FXS or FXO module to a voice gateway, configure it via h323 or MGCP in ccm, and add a route pattern (your page code in this case) pointing to that port.
You would treat it as any other analog extension on your system.

Technically, paging module is acting like a fax machine. It supports to auto answer the call then estiblash the audio path to the amp. My expereince is you can use analog, FXO or FSO ports. It is depending on what the paging module expect to see. The only programming that needs to be done is to forward the paging code: for example: 80 for all page to the extension that you configed. Then cross connect the ananlog port to the paging module. Then the troubleshooting begins - if it doesn't work.
My experience with one site was: we have to disconnect the power supply to the bridging module then everything works! The reason is the analog module was supplying dial tone to paging module.
Another alternative is VoIP paging module. Don't go the VoIP route until the vendor can absolutely confirm that your software version on the call manager will work with their paging module. I ended up upgrading the software with Call Manager then the paging module works!

Help this help!
