Hello everyone -

I have 2 different stacks of 3750 switches. One stack has 3 switches, the other has 2 switches. A regular stacking cable is stacking these switches. Can I take these two different stacks and combine them into a single cluster?

If yes, what would be the benefit of doing so other than the fact that all 5 switches can be managed using a single IP address?

Your help would be appreciated!

The benefits are it is a single logical bridge. If you understand the workings of LAN switches (bridges) then this benefit will be obvious...

First, yes you can...

Second, on the advantages... one it gives you 1 IP for management on the stack.. and you will also get a 16 gig back plane between the switches with the stack cables instead of the 1 gig cross connect.
