Hi There. We have an exchange 2007 CCR Cluster (windows MNS cluster). one of the exchange databases on an LUN that is too small. What we need to do is remove this disk from the server, the storage team will snap the disk, increase the lun size, and then we can add the disk back to the server. (we are doing this on the passive node first).

What I need to know is; what will be required on the Cluster end of things, to manage the cluster resource? Since the disk will be removed using snapdrive, I'm sure i will need to do something with the cluster resource, stop the resource, pause or stop the cluster server, or something?

Thanks very much for any help. Please be fairly detailed in the steps required to perform the task. Thanks again! :)

Depends on the capabilities of the SAN you are using, if its a enterprise class array you should be able to just migrate the lun live to the larger lun live and then use diskpart to expand the LUN within windows.

No outages or system interrupts is needed.

Depends on the SAN vendor. On NetApp, you can grow a LUN on the Fly; there's no need to use diskpart. For other vendors, the proceedures vary. Contact your SAN vendor.

Ya it is a NetApp; however apparently they are changing the filer to a bigger filer, so they can't just expand the LUN, they have to disconnect the LUN using SnapDrive, then connect a new LUN (which is on the new filer).
