Hi,

We will be installing a couple of 3300s in a Hotel that uses Opera as administration software, they require the PBX to integrate with Opera and Opera with the NuPoint and call accounting as well.

There will be one 3300 MXe and 4 AXs, also a NuPoint.

The questios is: is there any guide on Mitel Online for doing this? Please provide name of file.

I would imagine that first of all I will need to create a Cluster, What I haven't done before is PMS within a cluster environment. Do all controllers need the Hospitality/PMS option, or just the MXe?

Thanks in advaced. Regards,

Daniel

I am pretty sure that Opera/Micros/Fidelio will have no issues integrating with the 3300
As for Cluster yes you need Hospitality/PMS licences on all controllers.
You will need to setup the 3300 that will connect to Opera as the master controller and the other systems will get the checkin/checkout updates from it.

Thanks Supernova,

Isn't there a guide for doing this? Is the help online sufficient?

Regards,

Daniel

Hi Dan,

Not seen any specific docs however the 3300 help file is pretty good.

You will need to enable SDS and share a few forms which are outlined in the help file, I think if you follow what needs to be done you won't go far wrong.

Be aware in your situation there are two types of clustering you need. There is the traditional clustering to combine the systems into one and there is "Hospitality" clustering required to allow a single PMS to control multiple 3300's. You need to check the help files for this.

I will tell you now that there are issues with the hospitality clustering when using a 5540 IP console as your operator console.

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.

Loopy, thank's for that tip! What about the 5550 IP Console?

Daniel

5550 IP is fine as Supernova99 reports. I belive its the 5540 only that has the issue. Unfortunatley a lot of hotels like the 5540. Not sure what version of opera is but check out if it can communicate via IP to the 3300 and Nupoint. Otherwise you will need a serial to IP converter ( like the ipocket ) to allow the communications between the Opera and the Mitel systems.

I think one for Nupoint and one for 3300 CDR and at least one for 3300 PMS integration. Somewhere there is a PMS test program you can run to act like a PMS system ( i.e send test messages to the 3300 and Nupoint to check guests in and out etc ). That way you can verify your programming and blame Opera for everything :)

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.
