Cluster Failover Test Not Working
We have done HCT cluster device testing successfully over the past year with NT4+SP6 Server and Win2K+SP1 Server. Now, all cluster tests pass except the Move2node and Crash2node fail while running from the client (with Win2K server) right when the domain\username is input. These same test failures were confirmed with another pair of NT servers.
We started clean with new installations and a new domain controller Win2K Server SP2 + Fixes, but no Active directory or DNS on it. A second DC Win2K Server SP2 + Fixes was promoted with DNS and Active Directory. The net, dc, and Ldap diagnostics all pass. All IP’s and Servernames ping as expected. All node resources can be moved. Security options are “not defined” on the DC and Domain Security except allow system to shut down without login. All other security settings are typical as before. Server event log info is listed below. There are no significant DC event log errors.
If the Cluster Administrator security is entered for change a pop-up shows:
“Object picker cannot open because it cannot determine whether CLUSTER2K is joined to a domain”, then “The RPC Server is unavailable”. The cluster was put into the domain on set-up and RPC checks so far show it is OK. All servers are logged into the same domain as administrator.
It appears to be a domain or cluster security block of the client access to the cluster server. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Is there a problem with any of the hot fixes related to IP and security? Can I avoid installing certificates and AD on every server? Will we need the new hot fix for “Access Violation in Object Picker” (related to Article Q287187)?
The Application event errors are as follows:
Error Event ID 13527 NTFRSPerf: “The RPC binding failed in the open function of the FileReplicaSet object. The counter data for this contains the performance counters of the Replica sets whose files are being replicated by the Files Replication Service.”
Error Event ID 1000 Userenv: “The Group Policy client side extension security was passed flags (17) and returned a failure status code of (1332).”
Warning ID 1202 SceCli: No mapping of account names to security Ids.
The System Errors are as follows:
Error ID 105 MSFTPSVC: Unable to register administration discovery information.
Error ID 105 SMTPSVC: Unable to register administration discovery information.
Error ID 105 W3SVC: Unable to register administration discovery information.
