I've had this error a couple times already and after the reboot of the node with the error everything seems to go back to normal. I am running Server 2003 SP1.

Basically what happens is when trying to connect with cluster admin by name, ip or cluster name it comes up with an error "An error occurred attempting to open cluster node 'XXXX'. The remote procedure call failed. Error ID: 1726 (000006be)." However all the clustered resources seem to be available although Veritas backup software fails to connect to the shares when trying to pull data for backup. I can also connect to secondary cluster node without a problem by name or ip. I tried restarting the RPC service and it didn't help. however restaring the server seems to solve the issue.

Anyone have an idea why this is happening?

Hello volk125,

the important thing here ist whats happening after you try to backup with veritas software.Start veritas, write down the time then search in the cluster log with the guid of the veritas resource.

You will find the cluster log under c:\windows\cluster\cluster.log

Best regards,
Kuskaya
