closing the ports in the system?

To all, sorry just a quick check with you gurus..
i want to close some ports onmy system, editing and putting hash key ( number sign ) along the line in /etc/services file will do the trick or do i need to take care of other things?

Check /etc/inetd.conf for services you don't need and comment out the required lines
