H There,

I am looking for a bit of information regarding Cisco's REP. I am trying to find out if it possible to close a REP segment using an IP pathway between two routers.

Looking at some of the documentation on the Cisco website it looks like it is possible but there is no detailed description on how to implement it

If anyone has any ideas or has actually achieved I would love to hear from you.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks brianinms.

I know this might be the wrong part of the forum but does the connected router require any form of special configuration to carry the REP updates ie VPN, Dot1q tunnel, etc.

Cheers

Hi Brianinms,

Sorry to pester you,

To close the rep segment via the ubiquitous cloud, do i need to enable some form of layer 2 tunnel to allow REP updates to be passed over the ip link between the two edge ports.

Without one I dont see how the traffic will be rerouted on a link failure.

Honestly I have never deployed it thus I have only read about it. Thus unfortunately I don't have an answer to your question.

Thanks for replying Brianinms.

I have spoken with Cisco regarding this matter and apparently a REP segment can be closed with a l2protocol tunnel. However this doesnt help me as the L3 switch I am using (ME3400) wont support this.

Back to the drawing board.

Cheers.
