Closing pop up windows causes crashes IE6

Guys,

When I open a page which contains a pop up window and close the it before it is completely loaded (usually images), my IE 6 crashes.

If I close it after it is completely loaded, no problems.
As I use a dialup connection I don't want to wait for them to load completely.

What could I do to fix it? Would it be a configuration option?

Have you tried installing SP1 available using Windows Update?
