Anyone know why when you close a Word 2007 doc the Word application itself also closes. But in Excel it leaves Excel open making you have to close it too? so you have to click the "X" twice in Excel and only once in Word? I don't recall this being that way in Office 2003 and before?

hi,

It all depends how your documents were opened or created.

Look in the Ribbon -- View > Window > Switch Windows.

What do you see? I created several Documents IN the current instance or Word and I see that many documents.

But I can also open several documents, each in their own instance of Word, and I would only see ONE document in View > Window > Switch Windows, although there are other documents open in other Word instances.

Skip,
