Closing just the swf?

Is there a way to close an swf file that exists on a html page, similar to the way that advertisers do it on flash popup files that have a close button??

i tried window.close();
doesnt work

Just the .swf, from the .swf itself?

_level0.unloadMovie();

Or...

unloadMovieNum(0);
