This would be difficult to do if you allow your users to do FINDS on a form or worksheet where fields are editable. Approach locks at the database level, and not at the record level. So you would need to tightly control the user's ability to get to records without your script or macro checking a record's status. I do not recommend doing this because there are so many ways someone can work around you.
