We had a family restaurant for a few years but we had to close down, we are now opening another store with a new name and at a different location.

The question is, we kept our Micros RES300 ver 3.2 system and the 3 terminals.

How do we make it work with our new place? Changing names, starting the reports over and credit cards.

Thanks!

Hi,

Essentially lave everything the way it was (hardware layout & position the same in the new place as the old place)
In POSCFG (configurator) go to the RESTAURANT TAB and rename the business. In RVC POSTING rename the RVCS. In RVC TABLE MANAGEMENT renumber the table numbers in line with your new. In DESCRIPTORS update the HEADERS in line with new business. In DESCRIPTORS TRAILERS update to new business. In RVC PRINT DESIGN go to HEADERS, and check what headers & trailers are used and make sure appropriate.

That will get you started, then get on to the DEVICES & check CC gateway settings, then go back to RVC tab, and check RVC CC setup...

It would take a half day for someone to go through and do all the settings in line with your business changes. Autosequences, serving periods... it is a big job if it varies a lot from the original business...

Best Regards & Good Luck
Steve

You're most likely going to have to upgrade too, at least the service pack version. I'd say to get in touch with the local Micros dealership an dfind out what you have to do to meet PCI compliance. They'll also have to get MerchantLink to set up or reactivate your CC account. You may want to buy a few hours of manager training from them too if you haven't been using the system in a while.

Your reports should be ok as long as they weren't highly customized. If you aren't changing the major/family groups or any of the tenders they'll probably just work.

I just helped a place do the same thing. They just bought some swipe terminals and didn't worry about trying to set the old system up with credit cards because like mrpinks3 says it won't be PCI compliant and I don't think there is an upgrade for a 3000 system.

They just use the Micros as an ordering, sales tracking system. Not what its meant for, but easier and cheaper than buying a new $20,000 system.
