We are using SCO Openserver 5.0.5. Sometimes we get the following problem with a socket connection, the communication is interrupted and the state of it becames and stay forever CLOSING.The only way to solve this problem is a shutdown of the machine. I want to know which TCP/IP parameter must be modify and where it is, in order to solve this problem of permanent CLOSING state.

Thanks

Does stopping and starting inetd also make them go away? Are there any extra telnetd processes still running when this happens? Annihilannic.

I haven't try stopping and starting inetd, but there are other telnetd processes running when this happens

Check whether those telnetd processes are for inactive connections, and see if they have any children. If so, the child processes (application?) may not be sensitive to a loss of connection. Annihilannic.
