Hi,

I'm dealing with the following problem:

I have a Access database which is updating his data from a visual foxpro database every 30 seconds.

That work fine till the visual foxpro database is being organized; access cannot retrieve data at that moment.

In my error handling access is just trying to update till de visual foxpro database is available again, the updat process will continue.

But when i want to start the program which contains the visual foxpro database i get an error (in that application) that ther's another user logged in: my access database.

Wat i'm trying to achieve is when access has completed his update process, it disconnects the connection with the visual foxpro database completely, at this moment i can only achieve this by restarting Access.

Does anybody know how to deal with this problem?

Thanks in advance!

How does your access application open the connection to visual foxpro? are you using linked tables, VBA code using ADO or DAO etc?

John

Hi John, my application is using linked tables, when i close a table it seems that access stays connected to the vfp database..

Do you know what they're doing at the other end when the visual foxpro database is being "organized". Typical VFP housekeeping requires that the database be opened for exclusive use by the process doing the pack or rebuild but that's not usually something that's needed too often.
