OK.. it's not a real Cisco but this software comes mighty close running on a Linux box. Syntax is VERY close.. close enough for practice at least and it does router :) When you must have one more router for the lab, this could fit the bill.. use VMWare or Virtual PC and you could have several "routers" running in the lab. Just use your imagination.

Here is the blurb from IBM about it:

"Zebra is open source TCP/IP routing software that is similar to Cisco's Internetworking Operating System (IOS). Flexible and powerful, it can handle routing protocols such as Routing Information Protocol (RIP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), and all of their various flavors. This article shows how our authors set up Zebra and used it to manage routes dynamically in conjunction with real Cisco hardware."

Enjoy!

interesting reading. I may give it a try soon.

Wow Imagine that... I wonder if it can run on an isdn sim as well, or maybe they will build software for that. This is definitelly going to lower my cisco lab budget. I think it will make for great route injecting as I'm sure there are going to be differences. Have you run this yet MikeS? I will get it up when I have time and report back.
