Hi people.

U know, now a lot of companies send their serial keys via USB, inside windows u don't see any HardDisk, their own software knows how to handle this.

I have 2 software that works like this, and if for some reason I damage my serial key, one of the companies will charge me 300 dollars for another one.

Them, the usb key cost < 5 bucks, the USB key they use are < 250MB in size.

I wondering if is possible to get a Image/Clone this came of USB devices?

The hardware is the same as the one we use daily?

Is all my doubt, thanks all for your time!!!

The moral of the story is don't damage your USB key. Just imagine that it was something you stored personal data on, would you be prepared to loose all of your personal data? You usually have to do a lot to damage a USB key to break it IMO anyway

Anyway I agree with Ben, I reckon you're on the fiddle [evil]

Most companies I've seen have a way to clone or retrieve the USB key info. You need to contact the company that supplied the keys.

In my experience, the USB key is only there as a security measure. If it's inserted, the software is fully functional. Generally, the license key is someplace else, whether in an encrypted file, and/or in the system registry.

I've been had enough experience to know that the license key is more tuned to the MACHINE name, than a USB key. We've moved license servers from one server to another. In doing so, the license key has had to be re-generated, a process that has been anything but painless.
