clone - suddenly it doesn't work anymore....

I've been using the clone option for quite a while - now suddenly nothing happens, it just doesn't react to anything - I've tested everything - from only using one object-layer to changing all kinds of different settings. I think it started when I last updated corel over the internet. (At first it wouldn't even draw a line - I did something, can't remember what and suddenly at least that worked).
Please help - I'm about to chuck the computer out of the window!

I called up corel hotline - he didn't know either and told me to start up Corel Paint holding down the F8 button - it resets all to standard options. Well it worked!
