Getting a headache figuring this out,
When you draw a shape with the circle or square tool, how do you mask it with another drawn object? The clipping path option is grayed out...

Anyone know,

Thank-you

...clipping path option refers to imported images with clipping paths, from photoshop, this option will be greyed out unless you import such an image that has a clipping path associated with it...

...indesign works a bit differently to that of illustrator, there are pathfinder commands to combine shapes etc...

...to mask objects you need to paste an object into a shape or adjust the image frame with the path selection tool or pen tool...

Andrew

...paste into is control/command + alt/option + v...

Andrew

...adjusting the container box is dealt with by the direct select tool, in combination with the path tool if you want curvy shapes, or create a curvy shape first and 'paste into' command under the edit menu...

Andrew

...with the path tool selected, hold the alt/option key down and pull an anchor point about to create a curve on the container box...

...to select objects within a container box, use the direct select tool (white arrow)...

Andrew

...any vector shape can be used as a mask with the 'paste into' command...

...this includes whole paragraphs in text boxes, fully editabe too...

Andrew

...you can also right click the target object and choose 'paste into'...

Andrew

...switch between the white arrow (direct select tool) and the black arrow (select tool) to obtain the transform handle of the object within your cotainer box or shape...

...douible click the scale tool to scale the active object, be it the container box, the object with the container box or both...

Andrew

...holding command/control shift wil transform in proportion manually...

...just the command key will transform any direction you drag to distort the objects...
