CLIP and broadcast

I have CLIP established between a SUN and Linux Based PC via clip through an ASX 1000. The software I am trying to run complains that it cannot tranmit data across my atm0 interface because the interface cannot broadcast. I have read that CLIP does not support broadcast. Is this a limitation of CLIP/ATM under linux? Or is it related to clip overall.

Linux 2.4.9 kernel with Forerunner 200 LE drivers compiled in. I can ping and telnet across the ATM interface from Norfolk to Ft. Knox so it is not a connectivity issue.

Is there a way?
