I'm running a W2k3 SBS and none of the clients will join the domain. The server is up and running and the domain is spelt correctly. When I enter the admin password I get network path cannot be found.

Any ideas

John

Do you have DNS setup correctly? Your clients DNS settings should point to the SBS server which will aalso be your DNS server.

When you are the IT director, it's your job to make sure the IT works. If it does work they know already and if it doesn't, they don't want to hear your pathetic excuses.

DNS is set-up correctly. The clients DNS settings are the SBS

When I click to join the domain, I am presented with the admin password log in, then it fails.

Are you trying the domain admin password?

Also do you receive any errors in the client and server event logs?

Do you not need to use the 'add client wizard' in SBS? I could be wrong we use 2003 standard here not SBS.

Sometimes it helps if you log on to the client machine as an administrative user ( user ) rather than a local administrator ( administrator ) as SBS can get confused

then when joining the domain, the username and password asked for is the administrator on the server

are you using wireless?? there are issues so don't

are ytou using the netowrk ID wizard or just changing from workgroup to domain

Be sure you enter the Domain administrator username as domainname\administrator along with the domain admins password.
