Netware 5
Groupwise 5.5

Workstations (95/98/2000) are hanging temporarily (30-60 seconds) every 5-10 minutes. Have run vrepair, dsrepair, Groupwise maintenance to no avail. Utilization jumps to 30-50 and sits there during the hang although there is no activity (writing) on the server.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

Is it 5.0 or 5.1 and what SP are you running? What client are you running and in what configuration (IPX/SPX and TCP/IP)? Are your clients DHCP? -----------------------------------------------------

Ensure time is in syncronisation. That and other NDS problems are the key issues with Workstations hanging because of server problems.

5.0 SP6
Clients - 3.31/4.81
TCP/IP
DHCP - yes

Time synchronization seems to be working fine.

Providing you have no issues as mentioned by LKT, what about how DHCP is served? Have you got static IP machines and do they get the same issue? If not, try it? -----------------------------------------------------

Problem solved.

A bad virus sig. file from Symantec was the culprit.

Thanks for the help.
