I have a client who is using 3 of my company's graphics computers (sort of unix based os) and they have a Linux server. Two of the machines can access the server with no problem, but the third machine can not get the directory like the other two machines. And if you take the host name and ip address of the 3rd machine and apply it to any one of the other two, you get the same result. I am not a Linux guy, only Windows. Does anyone have some ideas? Is there something like a host name and ip address table on the server that must list any clients accessing it's directories? This problem point to a problem with the client hist name and or ip address (perhaps the ip address has been taken already) By the way, the machine can ping the server and the server can even launch a Telnet session to the machine with no problem. Thanks for any response

On the Linux box, try adding the additional client to /etc/hosts.allow . If the other clients are there then follow the syntax. If the other clients are not there, more info is needed on the setup.

luck Ian

"IF" is not a word it's a way of life

Thanks very much! That was the trick, there was no entry in the file for the third machine. I pasted your message to my client and he had it working in about 5 mins!! Once again thank you!!!!
